The Heart Library
Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 June 2026
This launch list lets readers be notified when Turid Heiberg's novel The Heart Library: Discovering the Magic in Our Lives is released. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.
Who is responsible for your data
The launch list is operated on behalf of the author. For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights below, contact inbox@milesmarkaustin.uk.
What we collect
- Your first name and email address, which you give us when you join the launch list.
- A limited technical record handled by our hosting provider, including your IP address, used briefly to protect the form from spam and abuse. We do not build a profile from it.
Why we collect it (lawful basis)
We process your name and email on the basis of your consent, given when you join the list. We use them for one purpose only: to email you about the launch of this book and closely related updates. We do not use them for unrelated marketing, and we never sell or rent your information.
Who else processes it
We share your information only with the service providers that make the list work:
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the page, provides bot protection on the form, and briefly processes your IP address for security.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) stores the launch list and sends our emails.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces on the page, so your browser requests them from Google and Google sees your IP address.
Each acts as our processor and only handles your data to provide its service. We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep your details until you unsubscribe or until the launch campaign for this book ends, after which they are deleted. You can ask us to remove you at any time.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to: access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, provide it in a portable format, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw your consent at any time. Every email we send also includes a one click unsubscribe link. To make any request, email inbox@milesmarkaustin.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are ever unhappy with how we handle your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies, the kind that keep the site secure and working. Cloudflare sets these to protect the page and tell real visitors apart from bots, including through the Turnstile check on the form. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and we do not follow you across other websites. Because these cookies are essential, they do not require your consent, but we show a short notice so you know they are there.
Where your data is processed
Some of our providers, including Cloudflare and Resend, are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the UK and EU. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as the providers’ standard contractual clauses, so your information keeps an equivalent level of protection.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with an updated date above.
